Three homes were burglarized and one attempted burglary occurred in La Cañada on Oct. 6-7. All four occurred between the hours of noon and 3 p.m.

Sgt. Ray Harley of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station said the incidents could be related because of the similar time frame and relative close proximity of the neighborhoods.

“Two happened on Tuesday and two on Wednesday,” Harley said.

Suspects allegedly entered the homes by breaking windows or prying doors open. “All the homes had been locked up tight,” he added.

Harley said there was a description of two suspects that apparently attempted to enter one of the homes.

“The resident was in the house and heard his dog bark loudly. He noticed two suspects. One of them was trying to open the sliding glass back door. The resident yelled and the men ran to the front of his home and got into a vehicle parked in his driveway,” Harley said.

The resident saw two men described as black, one was 18- to 22-years-old, 5’7”, 190 pounds. The second man was described as 25- to 30-years-old, 5’10”, 200 pounds.

The vehicle was a silver or gray Dodge Caravan.

Harley added that although the incidents were within a two day period, it does not necessarily mean there is an increase in burglaries. He said that burglaries are cyclical and can happen in La Cañada, then in La Crescenta.

“We remind everyone to call us if they hear or see anything suspicious. If you hear glass breaking, like a window, call us. Just keep aware of who is in neighborhood,” he said.
