On Sunday, April 10, La Cañada resident Linda Delaney and her mother, La Crescenta resident Virginia Christopher, held a bake sale benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). One hundred percent of the $1,500 raised that day was donated to the Society for research.

Also participating in the bake sale for a cause were Delaney’s daughters Kelly and Dana. Kelly, who was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia when she was 3 years old, is a survivor of this life-threatening disease and today works for LLS as a campaign development manager.

“I am eternally grateful for the resources and knowledge of the doctors who saved Kelly’s life. It is because of fundraisers like we had that enables her and other patients with leukemia and lymphoma to survive and thrive,” Delaney said.  

Christopher, Kelly’s grandmother added, “I am proud to work with the Delaney family representing the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and my goal is for people to see Kelly as living proof of healing and inspiration.”

Delaney also mentioned that donor support makes a real and immediate impact in the lives of blood cancer patients and contributions have already helped the Society develop a children’s initiative that will help the LLS get closer to safer, less toxic treatments for children and cures for blood cancers.
