Kiwanis Hosts Annual Duck Splash, Awards Thousands

Among the many things going on this past weekend, the Kiwanis Club of Glendale held its annual Kiwanis Incredible Duck Splash (KIDS) on Saturday at Verdugo Park.

More than 21,000 ducks were adopted raising over $100,000 for the Club. Organizers report that the annual duck splash is the biggest fundraiser for the Glendale Kiwanis.

Non-profit organizations received back 50% of their “adoption” fees. According to Danette Erickson, two of the non-profit organizations she is involved with will receive money: The Assistance League of Glendale will receive $413 and the La Crescenta Woman’s Club should receive $518. And everyone who “adopted” a rubber duck for the various races had a chance to earn prize money.

The big winner of the 2022 KIDS was Jeni Blumenthal who won $10,000. Winners of $1,000 were Nancy Wildanger and Paulette Ramsay Wood. Prizes of $500 were awarded to Ritchie Tuazon, Veronica Denquito and Ron Saltman.

Visitors to Verdugo Park on Saturday enjoyed information booths, live and recorded music and, of course, plenty of duck races.
