On Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 12:10 p.m., the Free Admission Glendale Noon Concerts program will be streamed on Facebook and YouTube.

Flutist Martin Glicklich and pianist Valeria Morgovskaya will perform works by Michel Blavet, Robert Schumann and Franz Doppler.

The recital will include works by Michel Blavet (1700-1768), “Sonata in b minor for Flute and Piano Op. 3 #2,” Robert Schumann (1810-1856), “Three Romances for Flute and Piano. Op. 94” and Franz Doppler (1821-1883),

“Fantasie Pastorale Hongroise for Flute and Piano Op. 26.”  

Martin Glicklich has enjoyed success as an educator, soloist, conductor, chamber and orchestral musician and arranger. He has been described as possessing dazzling virtuosity with an enchanting, singing sound. A native of Los Angeles, Glicklich received his Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in flute performance at the Thornton School of Music at USC under the tutelage of James Walker. He was given the Dept. of Music Award for most outstanding doctoral wind and percussion student. Previously, Glicklich had also studied with Walfrid Kujala at Northwestern University where he received his Master of Music degree, and with Geraldine Rotella at California State University, Northridge, where he received his Bachelor of Music degree. 

Dedicated to teaching as well as performing, Glicklich has had students accepted as flute majors to the Colburn Conservatory, Thornton School of Music at USC, Herb Albert School of Music at UCLA, Manhattan School of Music, and Rice University, among others. He has been on the faculty at La Sierra University for 18 years where he continues to teach flute and coach chamber music. He is currently co-director of the Montecito International Summer Music Festival, regional director of the Elite International Music Competition, founder of the La Sierra University Summer Music Camp, and is on the board of the Southwestern Youth Music Festival.

Pianist Valeria Morgovskaya graduated from the Kiev State Conservatory. Since her immigration to the U.S. in 1990, Morgovskaya has been in high demand as accompanist for singers and all orchestral instrumentalists. She has been an official accompanist to festivals and courses such as Piatigorsky Cello Seminar and Beverly Hills Music Festival, and has performed throughout the U.S., Germany and Japan, as well as on numerous radio broadcast. She has provided accompaniment for many national and international competitions, and was an official accompanist at Schoenfeld International String Competition in Hong Kong (2013) and Harbin (2014). Morgovskaya is currently staff accompanist at Loyola Marymount University and UCLA, and is often engaged in that capacity at USC, Cal State Long Beach, Colburn School, Montecito International Music Festival, Academy of the West and Idyllwild School of Music and the Arts.

         Glendale Noon Concerts is celebrating its 15th year of presenting free admission, and now streamed, concerts every first and third Wednesday 
for Glendale and the Southland community.
