Varsity Cross-Country Boys Have Strong Finish Against Arcadia

On Thursday, Nov. 3, the Crescenta Valley Falcon cross-country team won five of six team titles in the Pacific League Cross-Country Championships at Arcadia County Park.

The Falcon boys’ varsity team placed their seven varsity boys – seniors Parker Simmons, Luke Cheney, Harrison Connors, and Jamie Cartnal, juniors Josh Chambers and Eddie Sion and sophomore Liam Zadoorian – in the first 12 places in the boys’ varsity race to win the race with 24 points. Arcadia placed second with 34 points and Burroughs placed third with 94 points. Simmons ran the three-mile course in 14:20 to win the race. Teammates Connors took second, Cheney placed fifth, Eddie Sion took seventh, Jamie Cartnal came in ninth, Josh Chambers was 10th and Reed Sinclair, who completed the team, placed 12th.

The girls’ varsity team placed third led by Emilia Greenway who took third place with a 17:48 time. She was joined by Annabelle Tanner in sixth place, Emma Haworth in eighth, Julia Linney in 13th, Samantha Talbot in 15th, Madeleine Cho took 17th and Anthea Perez placed 19th to post an impressive 45-65 win over Arcadia.

Arlo Gagnon was JV League champ, Liam Zadoorian was FS league champ, and Kate Saeva is JV girls’ League champion. All these teams were League champions. Addison Medina led the FS girls in a fourth place finish. Falcons lost the race to Arcadia in a close contest.

The Falcons are back in action on Friday, Nov. 11 at Mt. SAC for CIF prelims. The girls’ varsity races at 10:22 a.m. with the boys’ varsity competing at 11:45 a.m. Each team needs to finish in the top four places to advance to CIF finals at Mt. SAC on Saturday, Nov. 19. The Falcon boys are currently ranked third in CIF Southern Section Division 1.
