Dignity Health – Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center welcomed its first baby of the year. Axel was born at 7:02 p.m. on Jan. 1. The healthy baby boy came into the world weighing 6 pounds and 8 ounces and measured 18.9 inches in length. Mom Thalia and baby are healthy and doing well. 

At USC-VHH, mom Christina and dad Nicholas welcomed daughter Rachel Rose Marino who was born at 11:13 a.m. on Jan. 1. The CV Chamber of Commerce presented Christina with a basket of goodies with products and services donated by local businesses and chamber directors. As the hospital Foundation does every year, a contest was held for people to guess the weight and birth time of the first baby of the year. The winners are Lilly Miller, who guessed the closest birth time, and Stephanie Lynn, who guessed the closest birth weight.
