The La Crescenta Presbyterian Center for Children prides itself in being a Center that offers a multi-cultural curriculum. In order to promote diversity and represent the many cultures in our school and community, different holidays from around the world are celebrated. This week we have been celebrating the Lunar New Year.

Classrooms have decorated the school with dragons made out of recyclables and hung lanterns made from paper. Sensory activities include the use of red colored rice with coins and red envelopes. Dramatic play has been a big hit in Room 105 where a “restaurant” space was created with the help of Teacher Beatriz that featured handmade felt dumplings, veggie spring rolls and fortune cookies. The school menu also reflected some traditional meals including wonton soup, longevity noodles, vegetable spring rolls and ramen, to name a few.

The children, ages from 2 to sixth grade, watched some short videos about that featured the lion dance and a taiko drumming team.
