Glendale Centre Theatre Sold to Production Company

By Mary O’KEEFE

Last year the Glendale Centre Theatre was sold leaving many concerned about what the future may hold for the iconic property. Aware of community concerns, the broker, National Properties, reached out to CVW to inform that the theatre has been sold to a production company that produces interactive theater.

CVW has reached out to speak to the new owners and broker but was not able to interview them prior to press time.

The live stage theatre, located at 324 N. Orange St., opened its doors in 1947. It established itself as the center for theatre, offering not only professionally produced plays but also provided the chance for many community members to spread their theatrical wings. For more than 50 years Glendale Centre Theatre productions of “A Christmas Carol” kept the story of Ebenezer Scrooge alive for so many theatre-goers.

Arthur Ambarachyan of National Properties at the time of the initial sale said he had not authorized any information to be shared about the theatre. He said the rumors of the demolition of the property were “false.”

The theatre has been sitting silent since the sale but now, with new owners ready to breath new life into the historic building, the lights may soon be on again.
