LCPC Parent Education recently donated $1,000 worth of Bibles and devotionals to Oasis of Hollywood (oasisofhollywood.org) for distribution to the children and families of Hollywood. These included “The Adventure Bible and Bible Activities for Kids” books for elementary-aged children, “Holy Bibles for Teens” and “The Simple Truth Bible” devotional for children in middle and high school, and “Spanish Bibles” for parents and family members of the children attending programs at Oasis. The resources were funded by the Erskine Compassion Memorial, created in 2018 in honor of Cathy and Christopher Erskine.
In its 44th year, Oasis of Hollywood is a multi-faceted, faith-based ministry based in the heart of Hollywood that serves as a Haven of Hope for Families in the area. They believe in meeting spiritual and practical needs and fully utilizing the resources that God has given. They accomplish this through several weekly outreach programs: Kidz Klub, Oasis Youth, Family Grocery Delivery, and Grocery Outreach to the neighborhood. With a passion to train others on how to reach the community effectively, Oasis also hosts Hollywood Mission Trip teams throughout the year. Oasis of Hollywood continues to be a Haven of Hope for Families in Hollywood as they continue to Encourage Hope… Inspire Faith… and Develop Potential… one child at a time.
LCPC Parent Education Director, Anne Bierling, said, “It has been our honor to support Oasis of Hollywood, which is an amazing ministry servicing the under-resourced families in Hollywood with life-changing afterschool and Friday night programs. I have been so impressed with the personal impact Oasis has made in the area over the past four decades. If you would like to support and volunteer, see their website. Your life will be touched, too!”
