Robert Gerald (Jerry) Staudenmeir

July 21, 1931-May 18, 2023

Jerry grew up in Glendale in a house built by his maternal grandfather, Merritt Daniel Hershey. He attended Glendale schools except for a brief stay in Hadley, Pennsylvania. Following graduation from Hoover High School, he enlisted in the Naval Reserve and went to work for Security Pacific National Bank (now Bank of America). He was called to active duty and was stationed in San Diego. He married Gloria Mae Lilla in 1953. They lived in San Diego until his discharge later that year.

The couple returned to La Crescenta where their son Stephen was born in 1954 followed by daughter Debra in 1956 and Linda in 1959.

Sports, music and working on their homes were activities he especially enjoyed. He also leaves a legacy of model ships and model cars.

After their children were grown, Jerry and Gloria spent 20-plus years volunteering at Twelve Oaks Lodge where he played the piano and Gloria led the singing for a weekly worship service.

They were very active at Montrose Community Church and later at La Cañada Presbyterian Church.

Jerry is survived by his wife Gloria; his children Steve (Shelley), Debbie (Dave) and Linda; and 10 grandchildren and soon-to-be 18 great grandchildren.

A private family burial will be at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills on June 10 followed by an open memorial service at 3 p.m. at Highlands Church at 4441 La Crescenta Ave. in La Crescenta. A reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, if you wish please consider a donation to Samaritan’s Purse or to Highlands Church.
