Captain Dave Silversparre of the CV Sheriff’s Station addressed the members of the La Cañada Flintridge Republican Committee at their monthly meeting at the LCF Country Club. The captain presented an upbeat report on the state of public safety in the city and provided tips for staying safe. Of particular interest was his report of the new technology the sheriff’s department is employing to apprehend stolen vehicles and to apprehend burglars. He also reported statistics on residential burglaries and reported how the number has dropped over the past two years. The captain also warned about awareness of the potential for burglaries. “You would not leave a one hundred dollar bill on your dashboard, yet people leave valuables in plain view in their cars and neglect to lock their doors.”
Silversparre is a life long resident of the Crescenta Valley area. His father was the long time owner of the Union 76 gas station on the corner of Angeles Crest Highway at Foothill Boulevard. Both of his children attended local schools. He has been a member of the Sheriff’s Department for over 30 years. The captain has been in a management position for many years serving in various leadership roles. He has been commander at the Briggs Avenue Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s station for the past four years.
