Pounds and pounds of non-perishable food items were collected from La Cañada Flintridge to Sunland and Glendale on Saturday, Sept. 9.  Among the drop-off points were the CV Weekly garage, five LDS church parking lots and several Ralphs market parking lots. This year’s donations to the LDS were collected on the honor system with few locations being manned.

At the LDS Stake (congregation) in La Crescenta, church member and “Just Serve” specialist LuAnne White organized the donations at that drop-off point. All church donations were headed to the Bailey Human Care Center, a free community outreach program of the Tujunga United Methodist Church.

A drop-off point for non-perishable food was sponsored by the La Crescenta Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

“We hope that we can bring the community together to help with those who need sustenance,” said White. White regularly volunteers at the Bailey Center Food giveaway on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
