Golf Tournament Honors Local Athlete

James Jenkins was a neighborhood boy who grew up in the Crescenta Valley attending local schools. He was a senior at Crescenta Valley High School, an accomplished athlete who often was found on the basketball court.

Jenkins died unexpectedly in 2002 in his senior year at CVHS. A golf tournament – the James Jenkins Memorial Golf Classic Tournament – is held annually (except during the pandemic) to commemorate Jenkins and is a fundraiser for the boys basketball program at the high school.

This year’s tournament is being held on Monday, Nov. 6 at Scholl Canyon Golf Course, 3800 E. Glenoaks Blvd. in Glendale. The cost of $150 includes 18 holes of golf and a cart, a bucket of range balls plus a continental breakfast and lunch. There will also be a trophy presentation and prizes.

To learn more about the tournament, contact Lala at (818) 974-0614. To reserve a space to play, make checks payable to CVHS Boys BB Booster or Zelle cvfalconsbb@gmail.com. Players can also register online at bit.ly/cvhs-golf.
