Hosted by the USC School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, the free Health Expo at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital in Glendale offered something for everyone. In October, over a dozen booths were on display providing health services such as anxiety screening, blood pressure screening and hands-on CPR training.   

The free flu shot booth was the most popular. It was standing room only as people lined up for the vaccine given by students from the USC Mann School of Pharmacy. Montrose resident Michael Hartman was happy to get his flu shot after his insurance was canceled due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. Hartman works in film and TV production.  

Another popular booth was the Glendale Medic Program administered by the Glendale Fire Dept. Paramedics provided information on the Glendale Medic Program that covers any ambulance fees not covered by insurance, or provides a 50% discount for members without insurance. All family members of the immediate household would also be covered. The cost is $60 per year. For further information, call (818) 548-4041.    

More booths included the La Cañada Flintridge Community Center booth manned by Joanna Burke (“Miss JoJo”) who teaches dance classes at the Center for children, teens and their parents.
