Dec. 8, 2023
Kathleen Ann “Kay” Rountree, 70, of Rancho Mirage died peacefully at home among family on Dec. 8. Together with husband John William “Bill” Rountree, Kay celebrated each day with a blended family of three sons and two daughters: Don Rountree (Jayne), Robert “Bob” Rountree (Tina), Jason Rountree, Kelly Kaufman (Stan), Kacey Rae Rountree; 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and a bevy of beloved nieces and nephews.
Following graduation from Western Illinois University and the application of her degree in the Parks and Recreation Management industry in Illinois, Kay served for 10 years as United States House of Representatives staff in Washington, D.C. She then chose to relocate and pursue her passion for golf in Southern California at Oakmont Country Club where she met Bill, who quickly became the love of her life.
For friends and family alike, to be with Kay and Bill was to be in the center of the action. Kay was an eight-time Ladies Club Champion at The Springs Country Club in Rancho Mirage. Their shared love for golf took them around the world several times. When they were at home it was all about being present for family and friends, to make them feel special at celebrations big or small. To know Kay was to feel her support and the warmth of her love.
Kay was preceded in death by her father Allan F. Landolt and mother Joan Burns Landolt. She is survived by her siblings Terry Bishirjian (Richard), Allan J. Landolt (Linda), Maura Spreen (Tim), Mark W. Landolt (Jen), Renee Huglin (Mark) and Matthew Landolt.
