Southern California Edison (SCE) customers can report or inquire about power outages by calling (800) 611-1911 and get the latest outage information at sce.com/outages. Downed power lines should be treated as if they are electrified; never approach a downed wire and call 9-1-1 immediately to report an electrical emergency.
The below recommendations can help customers stay safe during wet weather:
- Never try to remove a broken tree limb or branch that has come in contact with a power line.
- Install surge protectors to help safeguard valuable electronic equipment, such as computers and home entertainment systems.
- Those who have an automatic garage door or gate should learn to open it manually (without power).
- Check vehicle’s wiper blades and tire tread, use caution when driving and do not enter flooded areas.
- Contact city or county emergency services offices for flood preparation and sandbag locations.
- Customers should make a safety preparedness plan for their family that includes a list and location of emergency items such as water bottles, flashlights, first-aid kits, extra blankets, etc.
- Be prepared to meet the unique needs of infants and elderly or disabled family members. Also, plan how to care for any pets.
