2600 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Crescenta, deputies responded to a call regarding a business disturbance. An employee reported that a customer had placed several items at the cashier’s counter to be purchased and gave the employee a $100 bill. The employee reported that the bill did not feel right and put it in a machine to determine if it was counterfeit. The bill was determined as counterfeit and the employee returned to the customer. The employee told the customer the bill was counterfeit; the customer said he had recently received the bill from the bank and wanted it back. The employee said he could not do that and had contacted the Sheriff’s Dept. The employee asked the customer to wait for law enforcement; the customer said he would but was going to step outside to have a cigarette.

The customer left the area at 9:59 p.m.
