Police Attempt to Communicate with Local Suspect

Glendale police received a call around 2:14 p.m. on Wednesday regarding an assault with a deadly weapon in the 3300 block of Reta Street in La Crescenta. When they arrived they saw a person down but did not see the suspect. There was no gun fire but there was an assault with a deadly weapon.

The “critical incident” resulted in a shelter-in-place/lockdown at Dunsmore Elementary School, Valley View Elementary School and Clark Magnet High School. Once the police determined the male suspect was in the house the shelter-in-place was released at 3:23 p.m.

The weapon has not been identified. As of press time, Glendale police officers called into the house to see if the suspect would come out; though he did not, police were able to establish contact with him. Glendale police continued to attempt to communicate with the suspect.

Nearby streets were cordoned off.

Neighbors who had left their homes were not allowed back in until the incident was resolved, which is an unknown amount of time.
