The Glendale Y, founded in 1926 and based on Lexington Avenue since the 1940s, provides 45-day shelter for families in crisis due to domestic violence. Through its emergency shelter, Sunrise Village, residents receive food, clothing and supportive services.

The Y’s Hope Closet includes clothing for women and children provided through donations from the community. Oakmont League, founded in the same decade that the Y acquired its Lexington Avenue headquarters, has worked with local community agencies such as the YWCA for several years.

Clothing donations were collected though the efforts of Oakmont League’s philanthropy chairs Ellen Farewell and Pam Riley.
