City of Glendale Hosting Earth Month Events

In April, the City of Glendale and the Office of Sustainability invite the community to celebrate Earth Month through a series of environmentally conscious events and initiatives. Themed “Reconnect with the Earth,” this year’s Earth Month Fest aims to inspire residents to embrace environmental stewardship, deepen their understanding of the planet, and actively participate in sustainable practices.

The cornerstone event, the Earth Day Fair, is scheduled for Saturday, April 20 at Verdugo Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This zero-waste fair promises a fun day for families, kids, teens and adults, featuring a variety of activities including educational activities, interactive games, rock climbing, face painting, carnival games and more.

Attendees will also enjoy performances by “We Tell Stories” and the “SoCal Mobile Zoo,” showcasing cool critters. Over 30 booths from vendors and community groups will be present, alongside food trucks offering delicious eats. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own water bottles, containers, cutlery, and to come the fair by walking, biking and public transit in honor of Earth Day and to obtain bonus tickets for opportunity draws throughout the day.

The Earth Month Fest doesn’t stop with the Earth Day Fair. Glendale residents have a plethora of opportunities to engage with their environment throughout April and into May. Highlights include:

Friday Night Lecture – Get the Dirt on Dirt: Delve into the fascinating world of soil, one of our most valuable natural resources on Saturday, April 19 at Stone Barn Nature Center from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Registration required.

Guided Hike Through the Sycamore Canyon Wildlife Corridor: Discover Glendale’s natural beauty and wildlife corridors with a guided hike with the Arroyos Foothill Conservancy on Saturday, May 4 at the Sycamore Canyon Preserve from 10 a.m. to noon. Registration required.
