The Assistance League® of Flintridge (ALF) drama program invites young actors in grades three to six to participate in an ALFie Players production of Disney’s “Finding Nemo, KIDS.”
This fall program promises to entertain and inspire both the cast and audience with its heart-warming story about finding family, adventure and friendship – all while set in the open sea.
Disney’s original “Finding Nemo” centers on the relationship between the overprotective clownfish Marlin, and his son Nemo, who dreams of a life of his own beyond the Great Barrier Reef. When Nemo is captured after swimming too close to the surface of the ocean to prove himself, Marlin must set out to find him. Along the way, he encounters a variety of unexpected characters from Dory the blue reef fish to dangerous sharks and goofy sea turtles.
ALF offers this eight-week, after-school drama workshop to students in La Cañada Flintridge and surrounding communities. ALF drama welcomes both beginners and experienced performers to take part in this exciting opportunity. Actors will learn about dramatic storytelling, improvisation and teambuilding. Rehearsals will culminate in a public performance at Lanterman Auditorium where all are encouraged to attend.
Katelyn Fike will direct this fun venture, leading the young company in song and choreography as well as acting and stage techniques. Fike’s many credits include previous ALF productions of “Willy Wonka KIDS,” Disney’s “The Lion King KIDS,” and an adaptation of Disney’s “Frozen.” Tristan Waldron and Nancy Abbott also return as assistant director and musical director to round out this dedicated and talented team.
Rehearsals begin Aug. 20 followed by the final performance on Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. in Lanterman Auditorium. Students will meet at ALF and Lanterman Auditorium on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school and Monday through Friday during the week of the performance.
Online registration opens Monday, July 15 at noon. The program fee of $325 includes production materials, a T-shirt, and a cast photo. To register or for more information, visit ALFlintridge.org, email programs@alflintridge.org or call (818) 790-2211.
