Town Hall Meeting Planned

An upcoming town hall, a pivotal event that will address the changing residential landscape of our community, will take place on July 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the La Crescenta Library, 2809 Foothill Blvd. We are thrilled to have a panel of esteemed guests including representatives from the offices of Assemblymember Laura Friedman and State Senator Anthony Portantino and members from the County offices who will share their insights and updates on critical issues such as SB 8, SB 9, SB 10, multifamily housing and residential rehab centers impacting our community. Your presence and participation are not just welcomed but crucial to the success of this event.

This town hall is an excellent opportunity for residents to stay informed and engaged in discussions about our town. Whether you have concerns about development, infrastructure or any other topic related to changes in our community’s environment, this event is the perfect platform to have your voice heard. In addition to the details about the town hall, I would like to clarify that my colleagues and I on the Crescenta Valley Town Council are volunteers serving as an advisory body between the office of Los Angeles County 5th District Supervisor Kathryn Barger and the residents of unincorporated La Crescenta-Montrose. While we are dedicated to hosting town halls and relaying your ideas and concerns to the appropriate channels, it is important to note that we are not a law-making body and do not have the authority to enact changes beyond our advisory role.

At our last general meeting, we had the privilege of hosting six county officials who addressed concerns regarding drug rehab facilities in the unincorporated area. Those representatives from the County highlighted the importance of residents addressing their concerns directly to their elected officials. As residents, your voices hold significant weight in influencing policy decisions and shaping the future of our community for generations to come.
