Artist Natalie Gonzalez’ installation, “Ventana Huichola,” will be on display at the Adams Square Mini Park Gas Station from Monday, Oct. 7 to Friday, Nov. 15.

Ventana Huichola – or “Huichol Window” in English – is a site-specific installation consisting of three pieces each made of 15 God’s Eyes. Each God’s Eye is attached to a plastic net with a cord. Gonzalez’ goal is for the audience to engage in this magical vibration of colors and shapes.

Gonzalez is a visual artist and art practitioner based in San Diego. She primarily focuses on acrylic and mixed media. She uses simple shapes, lines and organic images in her work. Gonzalez enjoys the creative process; it is a response to all the things she experiences in her daily life and past. By using elements of her traditions, roots and Neo-Mexicanism, she attempts to construct her own ideas, analyses and metaphors of what being binational means to her.

This temporary art installation is sponsored by the Glendale Arts and Culture Commission through funding from the Urban Art Program, and support from Glendale Library, Arts & Culture, Glendale Community Services and Parks, and the Adams Hill Neighborhood Association.
