Bonnie Lee Broadway Meade-Mortimer

Nov. 9, 1950-Sept. 29, 2024

Bonnie passed away on Sept. 29 surrounded by her loving family.

Bonnie was born on Nov. 9, 1950 to Lee and LaVonne Broadway and was proud to spend her entire life in the Crescenta Valley. She attended local schools and graduated from CVHS in 1968. She married William (Bill) Meade (also from CV) and they had two children (Dawn and Dennis, who also graduated from CVHS).

Bonnie was raised in faith and was a lifelong member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church where she was a choir member, served on the chancel guild and for many years was the finance secretary.

She was a longtime volunteer of Girl and Boy Scouts, supporting at the troop and council levels. Bonnie supported the schools her children attended helping with the PTA, supervising as a noon duty aide and organizing many fundraisers. She worked at Verdugo Hills Bowl and then at the Glendale Area Schools Federal Credit Union for over 25 years helping many people with various loan matters.

Bonnie liked attending family reunions, especially when they were in South Dakota where she could turn the vacation into a road trip and reconnect with old friends and see the sights. She enjoyed visiting with her many neighbors and friends and, of course, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and the Los Angeles Dodgers. She loved growing her cherished roses of all colors at every house she lived in and was often seen in Montrose eating at her favorite restaurant – Joselito’s.

She is survived by her daughter Dawn Meade Keeling and husband Bob; son Dennis Meade; sister Nadine Moore; nephew Aaron Moore and wife Cassandra; and great niece Brynley Rae along with an extensive extended family of first, second and third cousins.

A celebration of life will be held on her birthday, Nov. 9, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 2723 Orange Ave. in La Crescenta.

Bonnie will be missed but is now at peace and out of pain.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bonnie’s name to Gethsemane Lutheran Church, La Crescenta.
