David Francis Belden

Feb. 20, 1947 – Oct. 17, 2024

David Francis Belden, 77, passed away on Oct. 17 in Glendale. His battles in recent years with serious medical issues gave him the chance to show his courage in facing life’s challenges to the very end with hope and a smile. As a devout Christian, David passed with the peace of knowing that he would be going to his heavenly home.

Born to William and Patricia Belden on Feb. 20, 1947, David grew up attending Sunny Valley School House and Chippewa Falls Senior High School in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.

David graduated from the West Point United States Military Academy and dedicated five years of his life to the United States Army, achieving the rank of captain. He was also a Vietnam veteran.

Following his military service, David embarked on a distinguished career as a radiation safety officer and health physicist – a field in which he worked for over 30 years.

One of his greatest career achievements was being the owner and president of Belden Engineering, Inc., where he was able to use his accumulation of knowledge and experience to help businesses – both in the United States and internationally –advance in areas of medicine as well as industrial applications.

Known for his intelligent wit and sense of humor, David was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was always generous with his time and affection. He enjoyed reading, playing computer games and spending quality time with his family.

Although in his later years David was not able to actively attend church, he loved the Lord and had a list of Scriptures he read daily. One of his favorites is from Micah 6:8 – “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.” David exemplified this every day of his life.

David is survived by his wife and love of his life for 55 years Kathy Belden; his children Wendy Belden, Daryn Belden, Alyssa (Bryan) Ruiz, and Aimee Belden; his grandchildren Justin and Jill Myrant, Nolan and Nathaniel Mendoza, Bennett, Brandon, and Abigail Ruiz; and his siblings, William Huse, Camie Teerink, Lanette Belden, Linda Wirth and Sandra Gibson. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Sherlyn Belden, Teresa Oliver and Vicky Huse.

David will be honored in a memorial service to be held at Bloomer Baptist Church, 2620 Duncan Road in Bloomer, Wisconsin, on Nov. 30 at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in David’s memory to the West Point Association of Graduates or Vietnam Veterans of America.
