The Crescenta Valley Lions Club is hosting its Annual Holiday Boutique in La Crescenta on Saturday, Nov. 16. The event is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. through 3:30 p.m. at the historic St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 2563 Foothill Blvd.
Several of the community’s most talented artisans and craftspeople will fill the church courtyard and parish hall to sell their most unique creations: handmade arts and crafts, popular home and beauty products, one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces and books and other unique specialty items. In addition, there will be a bake sale and barbecued lunch available for purchase. The local women’s singing group Monday@JoJo’s will perform holiday music from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.
Along with the holiday boutique, a food drive will be held. Food items collected are dedicated for the Bailey Human Care Center. The food drive is between 10 a.m. and noon; collection is curbside on Cross Street at the back of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. Food items that are most needed are canned and boxed food items, specifically breakfast cereal, canned meats (chicken, tuna), pasta, soups, canned fruits and vegetables. The Bailey Center is located in Tujunga and serves the needs of food-challenged individuals and families across the foothill communities.
Proceeds from the boutique will help support the Fire House youth center, located on the St. Luke’s campus. The Fire House has been a location for youth to meet for about 14 years and is the home of important youth and service organizations like Prom Plus, the iMPACT Foundation, The Crescenta Valley Substance Abuse Coalition and others. It also provides direct support to many of the area’s young people such as the Wednesday morning breakfast for Rosemont Middle School students on “banking days” when volunteers cook pancakes and sausages for students arriving an hour before classes begin. Subject to the availability of resources, The Fire House has also hosted such programs as the after-school homework café featuring free tutoring for interested young people, specialty seminars and discussions on important topics, recreational opportunities and many others. All of these services are provided for free to the students.
The Crescenta Valley Lions Club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, one of 49,000 Lions Clubs International.
