Woodbury University’s Nan Rae Gallery presents Peaches & Cream, a solo exhibition by Michael Dee, that opened on March 7. Featuring 16 large-scale digital photographs and three cast metal sculptures, the exhibition reimagines the picturesque natural world through Dee’s lens, reflecting his commitment to preserving an ever-shifting landscape threatened by climate change.
Visitors will see 16 large-scale hyper-realistic digital photographs of hummingbirds and three cast metal sculptures. Dee’s work is both investigative and mythic, merging the precision of a visual anthropologist with a 19th-century sensibility and a neo-conceptual aesthetic, echoing the influences of Auguste Renoir and Andy Warhol.
Michael Dee has exhibited widely in galleries and museums in London, New York, Los Angeles, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Miami, Houston, Seattle, Mexico City, Montreal, Osaka, Normandie, and Cologne. His work is included in the Weisman Collection, The Joan Quinn Collection, The Long Beach Museum of Art and the Perez Museum of Art.
The exhibition continues through March 28. The gallery is open Thursday – Sunday, from noon to 5 p.m.
The Nan Rae Gallery is located on the campus of Woodbury University, 7500 N. Glenoaks Blvd. in Burbank.
