Celebrating Latino Graduates

The Glendale Unified School District will be holding its eighth annual celebration honoring the achievements of its most successful Latino graduates of the Class of 2011 at Glendale Community College on Sunday, May 15 between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

¡Adelanto, Latinos! (Spanish for “Latinos, Keep Achieving, Keep Striving”) honors more than 100 students from Clark Magnet, Crescenta Valley, Daily, Glendale and Hoover high schools and Verdugo Academy for their outstanding academic records in the company of their families, school administrators, counselors, and elected officials.

Dr. John Garcia, deputy superintendent for Glendale Unified, will be the keynote speaker. The CV JROTC will present the colors. The Crescenta Valley High School Jazz Band along with the Ballet Folklórico de Columbus Elementary, will perform. Also being recognized will be Luz Zuluaga, member of the Adelante Latinos committee, who will be honored with the ALAS Award.
