Last November, in the midst of change in the 2200 block, a new store popped up on Honolulu Avenue taking us by surprise. One minute it was the Halloween Store and just a few short weeks later, on Nov. 20, The Clothing Market arrived. Everything about this store is fast and I might add fun. Fashion after all is about change and at The Clothing Market you won’t get bored. New styles are wheeled in on long rolling racks every two weeks.
The concept at The Clothing Market is very simple: fast fashion, many vibrant colors, lightweight rayon, low prices and with generous cuts. They sell tops, dresses, and cardigans in easy to wear, fashionable cuts that are made to fit a woman’s body. There are no tight, junior, skimpy cuts here. Most styles are made of washable, lightweight rayon. It is not uncommon to see a new silhouette done in solid rayon in many vibrant colors such as red, orange, yellow, green, blue, black, and white. There are also happy, energetic prints to round out the mix. Prices are low, starting at $14.99 with the high at $34.99.
The Clothing Market is the concept of husband and wife team Sebu and Maral Chatoyan. Sebu and Maral design and manufacture clothing for the wholesale trade. They have lived in Glendale for 18 years, know the area, and wanted to bring what they do to the community. Their new store allows them space in the back to design. The goods are then manufactured in downtown L.A.
On Saturday, May 21 The Clothing Market is inviting all of us to a party as they are celebrating their ribbon cutting with the MV Chamber. There will be food, refreshments and special giveaways. The festivities will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition, for the month of May when you spend $30 you will receive a free selected T-shirt.
So do check out The Clothing Market. They are open seven days a week, Monday – Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can find TCM and The Montrose Shopping Park along with many of our stores and restaurants on Facebook.
