DIVE-IN MOVIE NIGHT COMING TO ROSE BOWL AQUATICS
The Rose Bowl Aquatics Center invites all members of the community to escape the summer heat and attend the free Dive-In Movie Night on Saturday, June 18. Doors open at 7:45 p.m. and the movie starts at 8:15 p.m. (sunset).
The rated PG family movie will be projected onto a big screen with speakers placed around the recreational pool. Patrons may watch the movie while swimming in the shallow end (3’6”) of the 87 degree recreational pool or while seated on the pool deck.
Don’t forget to bring towels, blankets and chairs. Food will be available for purchase. No outside food/drinks or personal flotation devices allowed.
Come early and participate in family swim that starts at 6 p.m. Admission is $2 for adults (18+) and $1 for children (17 and under).
Don’t forget that every child under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult (18+) in the water. It’s a 1:1 ratio in the water.

L.A. IS WORKING COMING TO LA CAÑADA
L.A. is Working is a free job search event for business executives and managers taking place on Thursday, June 23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the La Cañada Presbyterian Church. A group of successful career coaches and employment and human resources experts have come together to provide a helpful and informative free program to assist business executives with their current job search. Attendees will learn how to get the attention of hiring managers in the Los Angeles’ job market, through a number of job-search-strategy sessions. The session topics include: resume writing, interviewing skills, working with a headhunter, overcoming age bias and more. The morning will also provide the perfect opportunity for networking.

DESCANSO GARDENS PRESENTS SUMMER IN THE GARDENS
Descanso Gardens is gearing up for the summer season with 10 weeks of extended summer hours, increased evening entertainment and the return of the Camellia Lounge. Midweek extended summer hours from June 21 to Aug. 25 are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. , Tuesdays-Thursdays.
Descanso will keep its doors open late for guests to enjoy the Gardens in the cool of the evening. Enjoy family programs, jazz concerts or a walk under the oaks as the sun sets. Admission is $8 adults, $6 seniors/students with ID, $3 children 5-12, free children 4 and younger. No reciprocal garden admissions during extended hours of 4:30 to 8 p.m.
Percussionist Jimmy Branly, a rising star on the Latin jazz scene, will kick off “Music on the Main,” Descanso’s summer jazz series. He will perform from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 23 on the Main Lawn. Jazz concerts continue weekly on Thursdays through Aug. 25. Bring a picnic (usually not allowed in the Gardens), spread out a blanket and enjoy an early evening concert as the day cools down.
Descanso’s Summer Family Series with Gardens fave Rhythm Child returning for a concert from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28. Fronted by Norm Jones, Rhythm Child is an interactive experience where young and old experience the joy of playing percussion. The Family series continues on Tuesday evenings through Aug. 2 and features music, plays – even an Elizabethan festival! Picnics encouraged for these special events.

SUMMER NIGHT SWING COMING TO AMERICANA
The Glendale Pops Orchestra, led by artistic director and conductor Matt Catingub, hosts Summer Night Swing featuring Patti Austin and Tierney Sutton at the Americana at Brand. Summer Night Swing takes place on Thursday, June 30 at 8 p.m. and is the second of a six-show season.

VHH HOSTING WELLNESS LECTURE
Verdugo Hills Hospital will hold a free community lecture on colorectal cancer on July 12 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. featuring Dr. AnaMaria Garza. The lecture, titled “Colorectal Cancer: What You Need to Know to Protect You and Your Family,” will be held at the hospital’s council room on the fourth floor lobby.
The lecture will address the importance of early screenings, the effects of genetics on colon cancer risk and available treatment options for patients.
