JROTC Celebrates with Banquet, Dance

Crescenta Valley High School JROTC Cadet Janice Bae was presented the Order of Daedalians Award at the program’s award banquet.

Crescenta Valley High School JROTC has had a very busy schedule this year. They are unique in the area, the only ROTC program in Glendale Unified School District which means their color guard services are very much in demand.

Once they added the table honoring Prisoner of War/Missing in Action, the requests for their services increased but toward the end of the year, the cadets had time to just relax and have fun. First, there was the cadet dance that allowed the students to have a good time without their almost ever-present uniform. They danced and jumped around the dance floor, a great way to unwind after a long year of drills.

Then it was the end-of-the-year banquet that allowed parents to share in the cadets’ honors, some of which included scholarships. Teacher/mentor Lt. Col. David Worley told the audience of family and cadets that the program’s strength comes from the hard work of the students who work tirelessly on their drills and precision.

Gloria Han, sophomore, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Award

Hee Ju Kang, sophomore, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry Award

Quentin Leef, senior, American Legion Military Excellence Award – Silver Medal

Jin Hei Seo, senior, American Legion Military Excellence Award – Bronze Medal

Michael Brown, senior, American Legion Military Excellence Award – Bronze Medal

Ben Marchman, junior, American Veterans (AMVETS) Award

Naomi Golucino, junior, Reserve Officers Association of America (ROA) Award

Paul Cooper, junior, Military Order of the World Wars Award

Andre Khosrovian, junior, Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) Award

Joanne Lee, sophomore, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Award

Richard An, sophomore, National Sojourners Award
