Longtime Sunland/Tujunga resident Steve Morin will head up Our Lady of Lourdes School as the new principal for the 2011-2012 school year. Health issues have forced Kathleen Jones to step down after eight years as OLL principal. Jones said that she is sad to resign her position, but is confident that OLL is in good hands with Morin.
Over the past 27 years, Morin has held various positions at the school including seventh and eighth grade teacher; student council moderator; administrative assistant; technology, science fair and decathlon coordinators to name a few.
Morin attended local schools Apperson Elementary, Mt. Gleason
Middle School and Verdugo High. He became a parishioner many years ago and was married at Our Lady of Lourdes Church which, he says, has always been my home. That’s where my heart is. He sent his children to OLL School where his wife, Katie, is also an alumna.
He is the school’s biggest fan, attending every sporting event, every speech/debate tournaments, plays, assemblies, talent shows, carnivals, concerts and any event the children put on.
Morin said Jones set strong goals and a steady plan for the school, teachers, students and families. He is pleased and proud to continue Kathleen’s dream of making OLL the best educational experience for the kids.
