The under-6 La Crescenta CSA All-stars competed in Westlake Village over the Father’s Day Weekend in Westlake Village, Ca.
On Saturday, the team’s first game was highlighted by defense with a 3-0 win in dramatic fashion. With remarkable play by Bennett Goldman at the mound, Nate Hunstable at first base, Levi Pabst at third, Teddy Amorosi at short and Jack Pfau at second, the opposing team never got a ball out of the infield. Two runs were batted in by Lola Low to make a difference in the score.
The second game the defense continued, and the bats warmed up with Jack Pfau hitting an in-the-park grand slam leading to an 18-8 victory that ended early due to the lead built by the team. Plays by Jordan Ketcham, Ritchie Ryan, Mason Stuckley, Reece Locicero and Matthew Alvo in the field kept the other team at bay along with their clutch hitting which extended innings by keeping scoring chances going.
After the solid play on Saturday, the team earned the Number One seeding going into Sunday.
On Sunday, in the semi-finals, the team faced the Encino Eagles. Their bats and gloves took a couple of innings to warm up and due to the slow start, the team lost to the Eagles and eventual champions 14-6 with the CSA Allstars finishing in a respectable third place.
