THEN » St. Luke’s of the Mountains Episcopal Church was built in 1924 from native stone. Its design came from the imagination of a famous artist, Stephen Seymour Thomas. He set up his easel across from the empty lot that had been donated for the church and with his oils painted a concept of what he thought would be the best architecture for La Crescenta. The church was built exactly according to that painting. The painting still hangs in the church office today.
