The Crescenta-Cañada Family YMCA is holding several lectures and events through Oct. 24 to promote breast cancer awareness and overall female health. These activities are free to the community and designed to build awareness and educate women on the prevention and treatment of cancer.

The second annual Verdugo Hills Golf Course fund raiser takes place on Saturday, Oct. 24 at the golf course. The Men’s Club is spearheading the effort with funds going to community youth who want to play golf at the local golf course. The Glendale-CV Red Cross is hosting its annual Comedy Night emceed by Fritz Coleman on Nov. 1. Coleman and other talented stand-up comics will put on two shows for the benefit of the Red Cross Chapter. Show times are 6:15 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. at the Glendale Centre Theatre.

Tickets are $25 and $45. Those who pay $45 will receive reserved seating and admission to a VIP Reception at Phoenicia, 343 N. Central, before the 8:15 show.
