4400 block of La Crescenta Avenue in La Crescenta, a woman reported that she was walking southbound in the north/south alley west of La Crescenta Avenue between Prospect and Community avenues. She reported feeling someone pulling her purse off her right shoulder. The suspect was able to remove the victim’s purse and fled eastbound through a church parking lot and out of view. The suspect is described as a male Hispanic, 5’8”, 160 pounds with a medium complexion and spiky black hair. At the time of the incident he was wearing a black shirt and brown pants. The woman said her shoulder was in pain due to the struggle for her purse. The incident occurred at 6 p.m.
4300 block of Ramsdell Avenue in La Crescenta, someone damaged the rear bumper of a vehicle while it was parked on the avenue. The owner of the vehicle noticed a car tire lodged underneath the rear bumper of his vehicle. His bumper had been smashed. The incident happened overnight.
2000 block of Montrose Avenue in Montrose, someone pried open the locking gas cover door of a GMC Safari van and siphoned about four to five gallons of gas from the vehicle overnight.
Sept. 7
1500 Sugarloaf Drive in La Cañada, residents returned home and found their upstairs office window had been smashed and the room ransacked. The homeowners’ safe had been stolen. A lower bedroom window had been smashed as well and items outside had been used as stepping stools to enter the home. The kitchen glass door had also been shattered. Several other rooms were ransacked. Jewelry was stolen. The incident occurred between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Sept. 3
2200 Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada, a 54-year-old transient was arrested for being drunk in public. The man was sitting outside Big Lots in a chair that was part of an outdoor table and chair display. He was allegedly yelling at customers. When deputies arrived they found he had a strong odor of alcohol and was “so intoxicated he was unstable sitting in the chair.” He was also mumbling. The transient is well known to area law enforcement. He was arrested and taken to the CV Station at 1:30 p.m.
