Glendale Police searched several neighborhoods in the Sparr Heights area for a second burglary suspect on Wednesday after a first was captured.

A neighbor had called police to report suspicious behavior by two men in the 3400 block of Las Palmas Avenue in the afternoon. When a police unit arrived two men fled from the backyard of the residence. One suspect was captured, the other fled into the neighborhoods.

Police created a containment area that bordered from La Crescenta to Downing avenues and Arlington Avenue to the south to Sunview Drive.

The K-9 Unit responded and police continued to search the area for the suspect however as of press time the second suspect had not been found and the area containment was released.

“There was evidence at the rear of the home that someone had apparently attempted to enter the home,” said Officer Joe Allen.

The one suspect was taken into custody. The second suspect is described as a male Hispanic in his early 20s, 140 pounds and at the time of the incident was wearing a white t-shirt and black shorts.

As of 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon there had been no other residential burglaries reported in the area.

The suspect was caught and an attempted burglary was apparently interrupted due to an alert resident contacting police about suspicious activity.

Allen advises residents to be aware of who is in their neighborhood. If door-to-door salesman comes to a door, residents should answer if they are home. If they do not answer it gives the appearance that no one is in the house and that is the opportunity some criminals are looking for.
