Two vehicle fires have occurred within a week occurred in Crescenta Valley. The first was on Oct. 6 at Vons market parking lot in the 3200 block of Foothill Boulevard. The driver said he noticed smoke coming from the engine of his vehicle. He pulled into the parking lot and the front of the car was on fire. He called 911, as he was waiting for the fire department to respond he used a small fire extinguisher that was in his vehicle. The fire soon became too large, the fire department had it under control in minutes.
No one reported any injuries.
Another car fire occurred on Wednesday at about 2 p.m. in the 1900 block of Verdugo Boulevard, just east of the Glendale (2) freeway entrance. The driver was traveling eastbound on Verdugo Boulevard when the car caught fire.
“The car was fully engulfed when we arrived,” said Capt. Gibbons, LA County Fire Department Station 19.
There was a single occupant in the car at the time of the fire. He was not transported to the hospital.
