“Overcoming Barriers to Wholeness” Classes Continue
St. Luke’s Anglican Church continues its “4th Friday” healing classes on “Overcoming Barriers to Wholeness: Physical, Emotional, Mental, and Spiritual.” The next meeting is this Friday at 7 p.m.

These classes, led by Fr. Rob Holman, take place at the offices of St. Luke’s Anglican Church, 3901 Foothill Blvd., second floor, La Crescenta. The “4th Friday” Healing Classes for November and December will be combined for one class on Dec. 9 when The Rev. Bill Bloomquist of Fuller Seminary and Trinity School of Ministry will be the guest speaker.

The healing classes include music, teaching and healing prayer according to the Christian faith.  Jesus loved to heal and St. Luke’s hope is to offer a healing touch to all who attend, including those suffering and seeking healing from anxiety, divorce or other relational issues.

Free Electronic Waste Recycling
First Baptist Church La Crescenta is hosting its fifth free electronic waste collection event on Saturday, Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Electronic devices that can be collected include TVs, phones, tape players, copiers, household batteries, computers, monitors,  printers, cords and other computer hardware. It will be safely and legally recycled by E-waste Center, Inc. www.ewastecenter.com.

Getting Through the Holidays
Formation of new nine-week bereavement group will be on Nov. 9 at St. James Parish Center to support those that have had a loved one die. Why not join a small group that will focus on the stages of grief and which will provide suggestions of ways to work through your grief. As we are approaching the holiday season, the content will address the issues that many of you may be facing during this season.

Wednesday PEAK Program Continues
La Crescenta Presbyterian Church Wednesday night PEAK (Praise, Education for Adults and Kids) continues. There is a dinner offered from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and classes from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The dinner costs $3 for adults, $2 for children or $10 for an entire family. Classes are offered for all ages from age 2 through junior high. Nursery care is provided. This fall for adults there will be three classes offered.

Lee Cook will lead a class called “Back to the Future Church: Ancient Faith, Future Mission.” This new class will address the rapid changes that are going on in society – changes both apparent and some much more subtle.  Many notice changing attitudes toward worship styles and dress, but most do not notice the more radical changes such as a move away from denominational affiliation, the move away from the “professional” clergy and a closing gap between Protestants, Catholics and Orthodox Christians. While there are many prognosticators, no one really knows what the church will look like in 20-30 years. The last time the church saw upheaval of this magnitude was during the Protestant Reformation.

Back to the Future Church will focus on the Book of Acts and how the Apostles dealt with challenges similar to the ones we face today. This class will run every Wednesday through Nov. 16.

St. Bede Offers Parent Education Classes
Classes for parents and their pre-school children continue at St. Bede parish. The program features side-by-side learning with an emphasis on faith and values incorporated into storytelling, music and art. Parents participate in discussion groups to explore Christian values and good parenting techniques.

Classes are conducted by Jo Ann Gantus, parent educator and certified life coach.
