Several Glendale Adventist cancer patients were treated to a “spa day” at no cost to them thanks to a visit from the Beauty Bus. Professional hairdressers, nail technicians, estheticians and makeup artists pampered their clients with new haircuts and stylings, manicures, pedicures, facials and much more.

The beauticians volunteer their time with the Beauty Bus Foundation to provide in-home beauty and grooming treatments to people affected by chronic or terminal conditions.

“I’m so happy that they came to work with our patients,” said Melina Thorpe, director of Cancer Services. “They are such a wonderful organization and it’s an honor to host them here at Glendale Adventist.”

People undergoing treatments, such as chemotherapy, may feel too sick or tired to go out or might avoid public places such as the spa because their immune system can be compromised. Bringing a pampering experience to the patients is what this local non-profit aims to provide.
