Glendale police responded to a traffic accident in the early morning hours on Friday. They discovered a vehicle had collided head on into a large tree on the southeast corner of Honolulu Avenue and Ocean View Boulevard.

Police found two victims sitting on the curb, one lying on the ground and one trapped in the front right passenger seat of the vehicle. The driver, Eric Corona, 20, from Covina was sitting on the curb.

The three passengers were all girls, 17 years old, and also from Covina. When police arrived they found girls were all wearing Halloween costumes. Glendale fire arrived and freed the trapped girl.

When officers first questioned Corona, he allegedly told them he and his passengers were traveling to Covina from a party they had been attending in Pasadena.

“At the time the driver thought he was still in Pasadena,” said Sgt. Tom Lorenz.

Due to the Halloween costumes police had to ask a victim if it was real blood running down her face or if it was fake. It turned out to be real.

The first girl was found to have a broken upper left arm; a second girl had a compression fracture and a large laceration to the top of her head. A third girl’s left hip was dislocated along with a left broken arm. Those three girls were transported to Glendale Adventist Medical Center. A fourth girl had a cervical tube fracture and she was transported to Verdugo Hills Hospital.

Corona was not transported to the hospital. He was arrested for felony driving under the influence and has been released on a $100,000 bail.
