The Holy Redeemer Middle School Cheer Squad raised funds for the Sharp Cheer Competition by hosting an early morning rummage sale on Nov. 5. The girls spent Friday night collecting items – everything from clothes to furniture to kitchen appliances and toys – from donors. In addition to making posters and pricing the items, they also arranged for a bake sale that also offered juice and coffee to customers.
Their efforts netted over $900 that will offset the fees needed to take part in the Sharp competition being held at Knott’s Berry Farm in March 2012. Left over items were donated to the Goodwill.
The Cheer Squad consists of 15 girls at Holy Redeemer in sixth to eighth grade. They placed fourth last year at Knott’s and are excited to compete again.
