A fatal vehicle accident occurred on Monday about 6:45 a.m. on La Tuna Canyon, south of the Foothill (210) Freeway in Tujunga.
A white Toyota Tacoma pick-up truck traveling eastbound on La Tuna Canyon apparently lost traction on the wet pavement and slid sideways into the westbound lanes. A red Scion was travelling westbound and broadsided the Toyota truck, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The driver of the Toyota, Manilo Imperial, 46, of Canyon Country was trapped inside and was pulled to safety by unknown passersby. He sustained severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
The driver of the Scion, Marvin Horner, 45, of Tujunga sustained massive internal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Next of kin was notified by the Los Angeles County Coroners Office investigator.
The investigation is continuing and Valley Traffic detectives are searching for witnesses who may have observed the collision and called 911.
