Clifford H. Gunn
Clifford “Cliff” Holt Gunn was born in Fort Wayne, Ind. to Veazey and Ruth Gunn on March 25, 1924. His great pride was to have served as a U.S. Marine Technical Staff Sergeant in World War II and to be a descendant of the Gunns of the Scottish Highlands.
In 1947 he married Betty Lucille Jeffries and the newlyweds moved to California where Cliff attended the Fred Archer School of Photography, then USC while beginning his career at So. Cal. Edison as a draftsman. He quickly advanced to electrical engineer. He retired from Edison in 1981.
In 1955 the Gunns moved to La Crescenta and bought one of the first Webster Wiley tract homes. The family grew with the arrival of two children: Diane and Bruce. Cliff enjoyed model airplanes, camping, baseball and motorcycles, both on his own and with his family. In the early ‘60s, he and Lucille joined then new 1st Baptist Church of La Crescenta and today look back on many years of fellowship in the church.
Cliff passed away on Saturday, Oct. 24 at home in La Crescenta. He is survived by his wife Lucille, two children Diane and Bruce; and two grandchildren Michael and Amelia.
Two sayings come to mind in remembering Cliff Gunn: Semper Fi and Carpe Diem.
The Gunn family thanks the 1st Baptist Church of La Crescenta for the service held on Nov. 3 and Crippen Mortuary for their arrangements.
