Thanks to All
The success of this year’s 2011 Montrose Christmas Parade is a tribute to the volunteer “can-do” spirit we find in all corners of our community.
Despite near hurricane force winds during the days just prior to the parade, including a few strong gusts just hours before the start, we managed to clean the streets, get the lights and decorations together, paint a smile on everyone’s face and start the parade on time with over 135 entries in place.
Nearly 23,000 people lined the streets of Montrose to watch and cheer for Santa, Jack and Helen Nethercutt, our grand marshals, local school bands, drumlins and cheer teams, Scouts, youth marching groups, politicians, commercial entries, local clubs and organizations, and even a pack of wolves looking a bit like our neighbor’s German Shepherd but still real wolves.
Our Montrose Christmas Parade Association sincerely thanks the nearly 150 volunteers who worked so hard and often during difficult conditions to ensure the success of our 2011 parade. A special word of thanks to Vic and Hilda Maranian of ICFN Charter Channel 382 and ABC Auto Electric for their faith, dedication and technical expertise in providing us with a live telecast and our first Internet live telecast.
And finally, thank you to the City of Glendale: the City Clerk’s office, Parks and Recreation, City Police, Fire, and Public Works for their support and assistance. And to the many organizations, residents and local merchants who wrote checks or provided services to support this year’s parade: we sincerely thank you.
