Loyola Marymount University has announced the students named to the dean’s list for the fall 2011 semester. Among them are several local students:
From Tujunga are Shirley Drange, Elwina Grigoryan, Sanan Mehserdjian and Nareh Nazaryan.
From La Crescenta are Karina Alvarez, Zily Burstein and Michelle Lara.
From La Cañada are Ian Balisy, Kristine Cato, Hunter Doty, Kelsey Glidewell, Nicoletta Pollara and Victoria Tyson.
Students named to the dean’s list have completed 15 semester hours at LMU and earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better. Additionally, a student must have completed all of his or her courses and never received an F in any course.

The following students were awarded degrees during Southern Methodist University December 2012 commencement ceremonies:
Josh Wilson, a resident of Glendale, received a Bachelor of Arts in history;
Matthew Pennino, a resident of La Cañada received a Bachelor of Arts in geology; James Tompkins, of La Canada received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in art.
Kristine Locker, Kira Ramani and Daniel Trujillo, all from La Cañada, were named to the SMU undergraduate honor roll for the fall 2011 semester. Trujillo was named to the honor roll with high distinction, which includes students in the top 5 percentile.
SMU’s fall 2011 enrollment included 10,537 students.

Abraheem Dittu and Elizabeth Saxe, both from La Cañada, have been named to Beloit College’s dean’s list for the fall semester.
To be eligible for the dean’s list, a student must carry a semester GPA of 3.4 or higher and take a minimum of three letter-graded units for the term.

Kelsey Carol Chambers of La Crescenta has been named to the dean’s list at Clemson University for the fall 2011 semester. Chambers is majoring in economics.
To be named to the dean’s list, a student achieved a grade-point average between 3.50 and 3.99 on a 4.0 scale.

Annelise Thompson of La Cañada Flintridge was one of 358 undergraduates named to Denison University’s 2011 fall semester dean’s list by Provost Bradley Bateman. Students who achieve dean’s list status have maintained a grade point average of 3.7 or better (out of 4.0) for the semester.
Thompson is a member of the Denison class of 2013.

Undergraduate students are awarded dean’s list honors if he or she earns a 3.70 grade point average (GPA) while completing a full-time course load (12 units) in the fall and spring terms.

Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Ind., named Katherine Johnson to the dean’s list for the fall 2011 semester. She is the daughter of Susan and Todd Johnson of La Cañada.
To earn academic honors at Saint Mary’s, a student must achieve a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.6 on a 4.0 scale, have at least 12 graded credit hours, no incompletes and no grades lower than a C.

Maria D Leon of La Crescenta, who attends Baylor University’s School of Education, was one of over 3200 Baylor University students named to the dean’s academic honor list for the 2011 fall semester.
To be named to the dean’s list, a student must be an undergraduate with a minimum grade-point average of 3.7, while enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours.
