A teacher has been removed from a Tujunga classroom amid allegations of misconduct.

“The teacher remains out of the classroom and assigned to an administrative site,” stated Gayle Pollard-Terry, LAUSD spokeswoman, in an email.

The teacher was removed from Mt. Gleason Middle School on Feb. 17.

The Los Angeles Unified School District is working with law enforcement and at its direction cannot disclose the details at this time, according to a LAUSD statement. “The District takes each and every reported act of misconduct seriously. We are committed to aggressively pursuing each case to determine the truth and, if necessary, initiate the appropriate disciplinary measures,” the statement also added.

“We are investigating,” said Officer Joseph Cleon, L.A. Police Department spokesman. “There have been no arrests [at this time].”

The allegations concern inappropriate contact, Cleon said.

Crisis counselors and psychiatric social workers are available to work with students that might be impacted by the removal of the teacher.
