In an effort to reduce paper waste, the Y’s camp brochure can now be downloaded online.
For the past several years, the Y has printed its camp brochure on nearly 60,000 sheets of paper per year.
Not this year.
In an effort to reduce paper waste, the Crescenta-Cañada and Verdugo Hills Family YMCAs have decided to take a more “green” approach. An extremely limited number of hard copies will be printed and the focus will be shifted to electronic mediums. Currently, the camp brochure is available to be downloaded from their website, www.ymcafoothills.org.
Any camper ready for the experience of a lifetime shouldn’t miss the Y’s Camp Sign Up Day and Carnival on Saturday, March 17 at both the Crescenta-Cañada and Verdugo Hills Family YMCAs. The event is from 9 a.m. to noon and offers fun for the whole family including carnival games, bounce houses, snacks and a free camp T-shirt with registration receipt. Beginning March 12, facility members can register online at www.ymcafoothills.org.
Kids looking for an adventure this summer can “Come Sail Away” at a Y camp. YMCA of the Foothills offers summer day camps for kids from preschool to ninth grade and summer resident camps for kids entering grades four to 12. Campers have the opportunity to experience Catalina Island at Camp Fox, hiking in Big Bear at Camp Oakes Mountain Camp or travel on a California Coast Caravan.
Day Camps offer fun for all ages at both Crescenta-Cañada and Verdugo Hills YMCAs. Campers will swim, create art projects, take field trips and stay active while making new friends all summer long. Adventure Camp, geared toward Junior High aged teens, features beach days, amusement park trips, ice skating, confidence building, scavenger hunts and more.
