Dreier Announces Plans to Leave
Congress
Representative David Dreier (R-CA) took the floor of Congress on Wednesday to announce his decision not to run for re-election in November. He noted successes in bi-partisan progress over his tenure and outlined areas in which he feels improvement is necessary.

Stephen Edberg to Lead Stellar Tour
The public is invited to Deukmejian Wilderness Park on Saturday, March 3 from 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. to join Stephen Edberg, JPL astronomer, who will lead “Tour the Night Sky and Its Brightest Planets.” This free program will start at 6:30 p.m. with a presentation in the outdoor amphitheater.

Participants should wear warm clothes and bring a blanket or folding chair as the presentation takes place outdoors. Additional telescopes are provided by the Burbank Sidewalk Astronomers.

SR-710 Meetings Planned
Metro, in coordination with Caltrans, will be moving forward with the Alternatives Analysis for SR-710, a Measure R initiative to help improve mobility and accessibility in the State Route 710 study area. Metro will be hosting two community meetings March 1 and March 3 to introduce this new environmental planning phase to the public.

The March 1 meeting is being held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ramona Hall Community Center at 4580 N. Figueroa St. in Los Angeles. The March 3 meeting is being held from 10 a.m. to noon at the East Los Angeles Public Library at 4837 E. 3rd St. in L.A.

The meetings, according to the flyers, are designed to share community information and insights gathered in 2011; become familiar with the next phase of the review process; contribute ideas; and join one of the various community liaison councils comprised of residents, business people and community leaders.
