Preschool families and community members alike enjoyed the fun at the La Cañada Flintridge Community Center Preschool’s Western Round-Up on Saturday, March 3. Carnival games were set up in the schoolyard and parking lot along with a petting zoo, pony rides and a popular inflatable slide. Families gathered together at community tables under the chuck wagon tent and enjoyed a choice of five barbecue style meals catered by Schreiner’s Fine Sausages of Montrose. Baked goods and candy at the General Store was selling fast and cotton candy smiles were seen everywhere.
Co-chairs Stacy Sartor and Erin Owen tipped their hats to sunny skies as families filled the parking lot. “Access Hollywood Live” co-host and LCFCC Preschool mom Kit Hoover helped emcee the event.
The silent auction, coordinated by Narine Stygar and Yvette Caudillo, was overflowing and the proceeds were “the best we’ve seen in many years,” said parent board president Lauren Bender.
Curator of The Comisar Collection of TV Memorabilia and preschool parent James Comisar encouraged friendly bidding wars amongst the crowd on such popular items as a VIP experience at David Copperfield’s live show in Las Vegas; house seats for Jerry Seinfeld at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas; preferred seats at the Comedy & Magic Club in Hermosa Beach; and Tacos & Tunes – catering by Los Gringos Locos plus music by Misplaced Priorities.
Carey Haynes of Coldwell Banker sponsored a highly successful raffle. The grand prize winner, Clara Ogilvie, won an iPod Touch.
The funds raised at the Western Round-Up directly pay for the music program and gardening program at the preschool as well as for visiting enrichment programs such as the Wildlife Learning Center and the Reptile Family.
